Always Be Mine by Neha Daraad : Book Review

Always Be Mine by Neha Daraad : Book Review

Always Be Mine is a Romance novel by Neha Daraad, published by Inspire India Publishers.
The story is a first person narrative of a guy named Arjun. The beginning is quite intriguing and, to a large extent, gripping as well.  The story, in the first few chapters, seems to flow smoothly with bits of ups and downs in the protagonist’s life in between. Then, in the middle, everything happens so perfect to Arjun, that when problems begin between him and his love, Aakansha, it appears somewhat illogical—almost unreal. The end is quite convincing, but the story could have been better with a little more effort.
I felt a lack of editing and proofreading throughout the book, which is not something for which an author can be held responsible. The author is only responsible for the quality of story, purity of language and, of course, the correct balance between the two. I feel that – since this is debut work of the author – Always Be Mine tells a pretty decent story. The style of writing sometimes disappoints, and, at places, the narrator expresses same feelings over and over again.
Overall, the book is almost like many Romance novels coming out from debut authors, but at the same time, it is different in many respects. I suggest this book to people who love reading Romance and are at the initial stage of reading novels.

My Grave Being Dug (poem)

GRAVE BEING DUG

Wind blows across dusty cemetery,
And carries away dust from its ground.
All that I can do is to stand and see,
The dust dancing around.
Agents of nature are busy constructing my hut for afterlife of mine,
I am silently watching, my grave being dug with time.

Goats eat up the weeds and grass,
And make the ground clear to dig.
Birds eat up the worms and pass,
Then sit on the nearby fig.
All are busy eroding the earth and building up my rhyme,
I am silently watching, my grave being dug with time.

All’s grave being dug up I find,
Some pay heed, most don’t care.
Death will embrace you in time,
Barricaded’ll then be your prayers.
Until the time comes to depart, let yourselves brightly shine,
I am silently watching, my grave being dug with time.

Ashvamedha - The Game of Power : Book Review

Ashvamedha – The Game of Power by Aparna Sinha : Book Review

Ashvamedha by Aparna Sinha is a thriller novel based on politics and political journey of a man named, Ashwin Jamwal. The book is the debut work of the author, and is definitely one of the best debut novels coming from any Indian author today. The story is based on the theory--Power is addictive, power corrupts.
The story is outstanding. It begins like a normal story of a person, an IAS officer, struggling with excessive corruption in the system, but then it grows to become a thriller dealing with a terror threat to many nations of the world, and finally it ends with something so out-of-the-box which is enough to prove the expertise of the writer in the genre. The end impressed both the reader and writer in me to the fullest.
Ashvamedha is a fast paced book, which you won’t want to put down before finishing, but you will do sometimes. There is a tiny lack of editing – sometimes the sentences end without any punctuation mark – but then it is okay, because the language is gripping. The sentences are not difficult to understand and comprehend but at the same time, very professional.
I suggest this book to everyone who is thinking to pick up a thriller right now. This book doesn’t disappoint. In the middle, somewhere, the book confuses a bit, but that is not a negative point, given the climax that left me shuddered.
This book gets a five star from me.
